A reverbed riff intro, a different, upbeat drum pattern, a rhythm that is unheard of, and amateur, vocals and understanding lyrics make up this rebelious, release from an underestimated, local, teenage band. 'Your Honor' is a single released from the band in September of 2011. This single is marked as the beginning of the band's new sound that followed their last EP released over the Summer of the same year. The band was usually known for their garageband-type appeal and young minded-ness. 'Your Honor' proves that even people as young as a teenage band can surely have their own points of view that others may agree with. This song is very clear about hipocrisy and being judgemental, which is something that everyone might be able to relate to in a way.
"The band is releasing more songs as of the end of 2011, so it's not safe to say that this is the band's best song writing to date, but I will say that the band has definately evolved in both, their music and songwriting. I simply love it."
-Elizah Hampton, Drowning at Dawn: All Access Fan Site
"It was a different process for us as far as writing, but we made it work and we actually liked it. We just branched out and dug into what we were really feeling. We didn't want to lose our sound, but we wanted something new. I would say it all worked out for the best."
-Ja'Cory Lavine, Vocalist, Guitarist, and Lyricist of Drowning at Dawn
lyrics
Feel my pressure
We could be all so familiar
You've never felt it quite like this before
Trying to make you happy
Effortless failing
You've never been through hell like me before
All you do is talk
Helping no one out
I can see your scales from here
You've never stood there falling apart
You've never had to watch it all from the dark
It's been like this from the very start
Now I'm a monster at heart
Another minute that we can not finish
Another day in my shoes
Drowning under water
Breathing in is getting harder
I've set myself up for your tricks
Tell me to stop talking
But the sound of a heartbeat
Is it yours or is it mine ?
I think I know the answer
CHORUS
Your honor
(Your honor)
Your honor...
CHORUS (x2)
Another day in my shoes...
